A slightly older car now being run from 2002 – 2007 but the ST220 is still a big target for stealing the wheels or stripping the cars down for parts. With these vehicles you have two options which can be used to upgrade the original ST220 vehicle security. First solution is to add a plip upgrade which works from the original Ford 3 button black key fob this gives you a sleek alarm upgrade which is a Thatcham 2>1 upgrade and you can add on as many sensors as required like a tilt sensor or glass break to give you the complete security package. The second security upgrade package I would suggest would be the Clifford 650 MK2 which gives you dual zone proximity protection as standard and you can add on a tilt sensor if you wish.
The Dual zone proximity is perfect for these vehicles due to the fact of the alarm chirping when walking up to the front drivers and passengers windows. This not only gives them an advanced warning the alarm is active and alarmed but it also makes the not so determined thief to run off and not touch your vehicle. The Clifford system works off it’s own fob which also means you have a spare control to lock and unlock your vehicle.
